14 of 20 most polluted cities in world are in India: WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) released its list of the 20 most polluted cities in the world on May 2, which features 14 Indian cities. The air in Kanpur, Delhi, Varanasi, Patna and 10 other Indian cities is considered the most polluted according to data collated in 2016. Kanpur was the most polluted city on the list, followed by Faridabad. Varanasi ranked 3rd, while Gaya was 4th. Delhi occupied the 6th spot. Srinagar, Lucknow, Gurugram and Agra were some of the other cities that featured in the top 20. Bamenda in Cameroon, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Kampala, Narayangonj and Doha were the six non-Indian cities on the list

Out of the entries received, 10 candidates will be shortlisted based on merit by a team of reputed experts from various industries. During the process of selection, candidates will be interviewed if need be by the jury members on the given mobile numbers with prior intimation. The selected 10 candidates will have to be present on July 4, 2018, at the International Housekeepers’ Summit in Colombo by 8.30am. The candidates will join the Summit thereafter.

The jury will be present in the Summit hall to assess the finer details of the selected candidates. The 10 candidates will face interviews and discussions along with the jury. Five out of them will be shortlisted before the Awards Night. During the function, the three nominated finalists will take the stage to answer a set of questions put up by the jury.
