3rd edition of LaundrexNet A big success

Launderers dry-cleaners and hotel housekeepers & laundry managers gathered at Hotel Rodas-An Ecotel, Mumbai, to discuss the issues confronting operators and hotels today.

Organised by Clean India Journal in association with the Laundry & Dry-Cleaning Association of India and supported by I-PHA, the one-day seminar highlighted the innovative approach to run a laundry business and the changing laundry trends in the hospitality industry.

Enumerating the importance of laundry and the need for it to move to the next level, the Chief Guest, Punish Sharma, General Manager of Hotel Rodas, said that “laundry today is taken for granted and we only value it when we find our coat or any other clothes not ironed when you want it the most. In the hotel industry, it is all the more significant as laundry begins right from the portico where you are received by the security guard, then the door man, then the staff who welcome you and usher you to the room are all in well ironed uniforms that creates an image and impact.” It is time to relook into laundry and give it its due place be it in the hotel, retail or commercial segments.

The interlink between retail & commercial laundry with the hotel laundry comes about with the new trends catching up in the hospitality segment. Elaborating on the success of rental laundry adopted at Sahara Star, Executive Housekeeper Renuka Rao enumerated the advantages during a group discussion on Outsourcing vs on-Premise Laundry Services. The members of the panel included Moderator Gorden Jagwani, Director-Washiteria; Kevin Fernandes, Director-Sparklean Laundry Pvt. Ltd; and Sagar Sodha, Regional Head-Jyothi Fabricare.
