51,365 households to get toilets in Mysore

In a major install-toilet in every household drive, the Mysore Zilla Parishad (MZP) is setting up 51,365 individual toilets during 2014-15 fiscal years under the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC).

The Centre and Karnataka Government have allotted 10,000 to each household in the zilla. Urinals would also be installed in 50 schools and toilets in 390 Aaganwadi centres. Presenting the budget for toilets and urinals to the MZP, its president M. Mahadevu has said that for the installation of toilets, each household will be charged a nominal 800 as their contribution towards this household sanitation drive. The MZP has also earmarked 1.75 lakhs to set up “Disabled-friendly Toilets” in seven different areas of the district. Each of such toilets would individually cost 25,000.

Meanwhile, the MZP has sent a proposal for establishing a solid-waste and sewage treatment plant in few gram panchayats. It has sought 20 lakhs from the Karnataka government for this treatment plant.
