A 25-year-old legacy in service excellence

In the first of many conversations with Clean India Journal, UR Uday Kumar, MD, Amps Facilities Management Services Pvt Ltd narrates the story of his organisation and how its vast experience has positioned it as an industry leader.

What inspired you to enter the service business?

The aim was to create employment opportunities for rural candidates. There were not many job opportunities in rural areas for technically qualified, skilled candidates who completed their education in rural areas. They had to go to major cities like Bengaluru, Mangalore, Mysore etc. There were few opportunities in private industries and government organisations too; moving abroad was both tough and competitive.

At that time, the growth of the IT industry had started in Bangalore; correspondingly, we envisioned immense potential for the facility management industry.

In 1999, we did aggressive marketing to provide dedicated 24/7 uninterrupted professional FM engineering services initially. Now, we are a full-fledged leading FM company.

We started with two employees; over two decades, our employee strength has grown to 20,000+ with a client base of more than 400. With 25 years of experience, we have an unparalleled track record with some of the world’s most prestigious companies and organisations, including Microsoft, Google, HCL, Wipro, AstraZeneca, Toyota and many more

What have been the highlights of your company’s journey from 1999 until now?
