A cause-based approach to washroom odour management

Organica Biotech Pvt. Ltd showcases how it neutralised washroom odour at source, without harsh chemicals

A reputed pharmaceutical company based in South Mumbai was facing odour issues mainly in the female washroom. To combat the odour, the company had been excessively using air freshener diffusers to continuously disperse fragrances in the washroom. This too did not resolve the washroom odour and the admin team then contacted the OB Care distributor to provide an appropriate solution.

The distributor recommended the use of OB Care Washroom Odour Control Solutions and subsequently, an inspection was organised with the company representatives.

During the inspection, they were informed that the odour emanation was more from the female washroom on the third floor. It was observed that all the female washrooms and male washrooms had a common drainage pipe. The team observed that the reverse gases from the drain pipe were leading to the washroom odour in the female washrooms which could have been due to the uric acid scaling in the pipelines over time.

The OB Care team suggested the use of OB Care Washroom Odour Control Solutions for a month in the female and male washrooms, since the drain line was common for both washrooms.

The OB Care Washroom Odour Control Solutions comprises two main products – OB Care FlushFree™ Urinal Spray and OB Care Urinal Drain Cleaner. It also includes two supporting products – OB Care Toilet Bowl Cleaner (used instead of a chemical-based toilet cleaner) and OB Care Washroom Cleaner & Odour Eliminator (used for cleaning washroom floors and other sanitaryware).

For the female washroom, the team suggested spraying OB Care FlushFree Urinal Spray in the nahani (floor) traps after every two hours intervals, and to pour OB Care Urinal Drain Cleaner at night, for the first seven days, after the cleaning process is completed.

For the male washroom, they were recommended to spray OB Care FlushFree Urinal Spray in the urinals after every two hours interval and pour OB Care Urinal Drain Care at night, for the first seven days, after the cleaning process was completed.

In addition, to support the proper functioning of the programme, two other cleaning products – OB Care Toilet Bowl Cleaner and OB Care Washroom Cleaner & Odour Eliminator – were replaced as chemical-free alternatives.

The above protocol was recommended to reduce the uric acid scaling in the pipelines which would reduce the formation of reverse gases, which was the main source of washroom odour.

The OB Care team member monitored the premises at frequent intervals to ensure the correct application of the product was done and also noted the progress.

After six days, the odour emanation from the washrooms had completely stopped.

OB Care Washroom Odour Control Solutions is equipped with breakthrough Molecular Sponge Technology™ designed to adsorb and neutralise foul odour at the source.
