This development will complement the construction of Leed Certified Green Buildings in India.”
Amongst the varied subjects related to the cleaning industry, Medical Tourism and Healthcare Accreditation drew visitor’s response marking the growing awareness levels in terms of cleaning and hygiene globally with healthcare being one of the biggest growing sectors. The industry feels that there is a need for an integrated cleaning approach across all departments of the hospitals. Infection control practices in kitchen and laundry segments were deliberated during the seminars and the show. The trend is that there are strict cost control measures followed for kitchen, laundry and housekeeping in healthcare institutions and at times quality and safety are compromised. In order to address this lacuna, wholesome solutions need to be implemented to supplement infection control efforts. This can be done by upgrading standards in hospitals through accreditation.
Selvaraj Nathan, GM, Marketing, Innovative: “We displayed our widest range of commercial and industrial cleaning machines. The major issue that concerns any citizen including the government functionaries is the cleanliness of two types of premises. One is the public premises like conference rooms, halls, convention centres, hospitals and the other includes open spaces streets, parks, dump yards and water bodies which ought to be kept clean as cleanliness is the functional responsibility of urban local bodies. This has also been mandated by municipal laws. We can’t accept that marriage halls are dirty and hospitals are having unhygienic environment. It has been experienced that if the premises are kept clean, public will not dump garbage or waste on the premises. When I was the Tourism and Culture Secretary, I had a bad experience wherein people and the hospital staff from the Victoria Hospital in Bangalore used to dump garbage in front of the historical fort adjoining it. In order to dissuade the public from dumping in that area, we constructed a beautiful lawn of six feet all along the boundary of the fort. This lawn was a clean space and people got dissuaded to litter it with even a simple garbage item. Cleanliness is a cycle. Today, infrastructure has grown in magnitude. There are big halls, convention centres and hospitals. Mechanization and chemicals are going to be adopted in a big way. With public, private and NGOs becoming conscious about the usage of chemicals, the chemicals also have to be soft on the nature and people. These kind of Shows are essential to help concerned bodies to identify the right solution.
George Oommen, Managing Director, Excel Group of Companies: “We have been participating in the show since 2006. The show has been helpful in looking for quality of visitors who can be our prospective clients for our channel partners and do good business in the market. We sought association with FM companies during the show.”
This is the first of its kind show, which I have visited. It is very well organized and is a big information and knowledge sharing platform. I am looking for a common solution in terms of chemicals and disinfectants. Though material data sheet is a good source of information, direct interaction with cleaning companies adds value to it. What effect can a particular acid have on the floor, the pros and cons can be ascertained only after using it.Today, healthcare accreditation is a subject not only deliberated by hospital managements but teaching hospitals are also feeling the need. Even patients are aware about accreditation. Corporate hospitals are getting accredited faster than government hospitals.

We are one of the oldest companies in Europe in dispensing production. We have been to the Indian market for the first time and could meet many prospective clients. The coverage in the October, November and December 2012 issue of Clean India Journal helped us, as many clients recognised us. The quality of the meeting during the show was very high and people were very refined. We now plan to work with some of them and find out the right partner for exclusive contracts.
Sapor was never in India. So for India, it is a new product. Originally it is a quite old product. It fills the link between a simple bar soap kept in a washroom table and a dispenser kept for hygienic reasons. Organizations recommend that people should not use soap bar and dispenser is a better hygiene solution. But liquid soap dispensers can leak and break; they are not long lasting and expensive. Not everybody can afford to have a liquid soap dispenser in the washroom. So for that reason people are now interested in our product. It will fulfill a lot of needs of the Indian market.

“It was a very nice show. We were very happy with the kind of exhibitors that were present at the show and the equipment displayed. “In general the show was very good. The participating exhibitors were also very good. There were mostly mechanical cleaning equipment on display. I was looking out for more of pest control solutions. Cockroach treatment and rat, control. Even though there were a few, one had to search for them. But I must say your guide, the handbook, that you gave was very excellent. Some one-on-one discussions that were arranged were also very good. I will suggest that if you could segregate the stalls according to the industry, it would be all the more useful for people like us. I was impressed by the follow-up of your staff. That was another good aspect of your show.”

The exhibiters were very forthcoming to our requests and queries and the meetings set up by the Clean India Show team were beneficial.
