An Unclean Act

While Anna Hazare supporters went euphoric when he broke his 13-day-old fast, the Ramlila ground silently bore the brunt as garbage and filth were left strewn around the venue. Empty and partially-filled water bottles, biscuit packets, food packets, cartons, rice, curry, banana peel, dirty carpets, and other waste. According to the Delhi Waste Management Private Limited (DWMPL), more than 140 metric tonnes of waste was generated on a daily basis at the ground. It required more than eight vans everyday to carry out the garbage from the ground.
