Now, junk can run a car
Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has entered the final lap of establishing what is claimed to be the world’s first ‘plastic-to-petrol’ making unit. Trials have been completed at the newly set up plant where plastic waste is converted into reusable fuels including diesel, petrol and kerosene, which can be used to run vehicles. This 100% indigenous, zero pollution and zero waste plastic waste vanishing plant, will be the first of its kind in the world. It can safely handle plastic waste generated from Covid-19 testing and other handling facilities such as testing kits and PPE kits. The facility has the capacity to handle about 0.5 tonnes of plastic waste per day, converting it into 45-95 % liquid automotive fuel and five to 55% activated carbon.
