Beware of spitting in the Ganga

Beware of spitting in the Ganga; it might cost you a fine of Rs10, 000 and jail up to three years. The Union Water Resource Ministry is formulating a legislation to heavily come down on those who defile the waters of Ganga. The proposal for the new legislation has already been made to the ministry and modalities of the act are being worked out. Under the proposal, if a person found guilty of spitting, throwing polythene of all kinds or throwing garbage into the Ganga River would be fined Rs. 10,000 or sentenced to jail up to three years.

Hema to spearhead Yamuna cleaning

Announcing the central government’s decision to bring Yamuna Cleaning under Clean Ganga Campaign, the Bollywood diva and Mathura MP, Hema Malini said that all the Central Government departments related to the CGC have also been inter-linked to the Yamuna River project for speedy and efficient completion of the work. While spearheading Yamuna cleaning campaign she is also going to start cleanliness awareness drive in Mathura.
