Bio-Toilets

The Kerala State Water Transport Department has issued a circular, which makes it mandatory for all the boats plying in the Fort Kochi-Vypeen routes to be fitted with bio-chemical toilets. The boats are currently fitted with normal toilets that dump the septic waste directly into the water, polluting it in the process. The initiative was taken as the areas covered are known for their scenic beauty and attract many tourists round the year.
