BMC to set up WTE plant

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked for an additional 12 acres of land from the government near the designated solid waste dumping site at Bhuasuni, to set up a 4-MW power plant. Currently, BMC has 61 acres of landfill area at Bhuasuni, however the site is unsuitable for power plants owing to the huge craters present at the dumping yard. BMC generates 400 tonnes of solid waste a day.
