Will India Change Foundation, an NGO, took up the campaign of spreading awareness among the schools regarding the use of brushes in keeping the environment clean. Biswadeep Roychowdhury, Director of the Will India Change Foundation and heading this project, approached several schools along with his team to participate in the competition. The entries were collected from the schools and given to the jury for assessment. The Jury comprised of Vishwanath D. Sabale, Dean of J.J. School of Arts who judged the drawing entries and Mohana M., Editor of Clean India Journal, assessed the essay entries.
The winners were felicitated by the Mayor of Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation, Dimple Mehta, who had extended a big support to this initiative. During the function, Biswadeep also presented a “Cleaning Anthem” to the Mayor and set record with several schools singing the song at the same time.
To further inspire the schoolchildren to participate in the Swachhta (cleanliness) Mission, Dimple Mehta said that the schools will sing the song every morning; thus, spreading the message on the importance and need to keep the surroundings clean and hygienic. She praised all the children who participated in the Swachhta Abhiyan competitions and spread the message of cleanliness. She also appreciated the singers and song writer involved in making the Mira-Bhayander cleanliness song.
Explaining to the children on the difference between brushes and the household broom, Mohana enumerated the importance of using right kind of brushes for cleaning.
The function was well attended by students of several schools, Corporation officials, media and others. All the children present received a bag of different types of brushes.
