Caught off hand

A surprise visit made by the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation Managing Director E. Sreedharan has cost the cleaning contractor a whopping 100,000 as fine. He expressed unhappiness over the level of cleanliness at the Dilshad Garden metro station. He found a lot of dirt, dust and litter at the station and cleaning material scattered in the station area.

The way in which the mopping was being done at the station was also unsatisfactory. The station earns the second highest revenue with the earning of 3.5 lakh per day and also witnesses about 25,000 foot-falls daily. All senior DMRC officers have now been asked to regularly inspect Metro stations.
