Celebrating International Housekeeping week

The International Housekeeping Week from September 8 to 14 was celebrated for the first time in some of the hotels in India too. The celebrations went on to recognize the contributions of housekeeping in maintaining standards of the hotel.

Celebrated with pomp and show , the five-day long festivities consisted of a variety of fun filled activities and team building exercises. It recognized the fact that being a 24/7 operation, the department literally never sleeps and works tirelessly behind the scenes toward ensuring guest delight. This is further enhanced with warm Indian hospitality and ITC Hotels’ deep routed principle of Responsible Luxury. The work takes a physical and mental toll and the efforts that goes into making individual guests comfortable in a foreign environment is not easy.

Highlights of the week were sports day, team building games, cultural programmes, Gala dinner, and movie screening.ITC Grand Chola, Chennai recognized the efforts of men and women in creating comfort and cleanliness for the guests – internal and external.

 

@ Keys Hotel

The Keys Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram, had an award distribution programme acknowledging the work done by the housekeeping department. The Best Attendance of the Year award went to Sanjay Rai and the Employee of the Year went to BikrasMaiteyKami. There were competitions held to showcase the skilled staff of the department. Vicky Chetry won an award for making bed blind folded within the stipulated time. Rajesh Biswakarma won the award for Room Cleaning. All the awards were supervised by HODs of the hotel and given according to a criteria complied by the housekeeping department.

Speaking to Clean India Journal, Jayaprakash,Sr.Guest Service Associate -Housekeeping said, “This was the first time that the Keys Hotel has organized such kind of event to bring together the housekeeping staff. The event provided a mode to show appreciation to the work done by the housekeeping staff and also increase their moral and team work.”
