Central Railway outsources cleaning of coaches

Central Railway, Mumbai Division, has outsourced internal cleaning of 2100 coaches at Matunga Workshop for a period of one year. The work includes cleaning of coaches and intensive cleaning of outgoing coaches after repairs at the Matunga Workshop.

Informs Saket Mishra, Sr DME (Coaching), Central Railway, Mumbai division, “The work entails cleaning of aluminium chequered plates on the doorway area of floor with the help of electrically operated scrubber machine to make it free of muck, stickiness and oil accumulation. Around seven coaches shall be offered by Railways for outgoing cleaning and also for incoming cleaning.”

The job would also involve cleaning of washbasins, lavatory pan, wall protector plate of the coach lavatories and dry sweeping of passenger area. It also includes cleaning of all permanent stains/ head grease, dirty spots on all interior panels/ berth rexine/ upholstery, moldings, floor PVC/epoxy, window shutters, seats/berths, racks, etc., using recommended chemicals. Contractor is required to strictly follow all provisions of contract labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act 1970 for latest duly maintaining the necessary records.
