“Chakachak” Pune

To keep Pune clean, the Pune Municipal Corporation undertook “Chakachak Pune” programme on the eve of Mahatma’s anniversary. It has also launched a year long cleanliness drive called “Loknete Yashwantrao Chavan Pune city cleanliness campaign”, where volunteers clean the areas near their houses and create awareness among people about community cleaning. The city generates about 1,300 tonnes of garbage every day, but lacks disposal sites within city limits. To fight this problem, the PMC has come up with zero waste policy by starting awareness on garbage segregation. The funds collected from corporate social responsibility initiative would then be used to set up disposal plants at ward level.
