Chennai to have air pollution monitoring centres

Suffering terribly from the pollutant suspended dust posing health hazards to people, Chennai is going to have air quality monitoring centres to assess and record the air quality index for the city.

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has procured high-tech air pollution measurement equipment worth 6cr to be installed at Adyar, T. Nagar, Kilpauk and Anna Nagar. The city’s ambient air quality will be monitored round the clock. To record 12 parameters including Ammonia, Ozone and Toluene, an ultra-sophisticated equipment will be installed near the city’s two dumping yards at Kodungaiyur and Perungudi, and Royapuram.
