The fourth of the one-day seminars organized by Clean India Journal this year, “Professional Cleaning Solutions & Maintenance” on October 24 at Panaji, Goa, was first such seminar conducted on a large scale in the State. Supported by the Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industries, the Seminar was well attended by delegates representing varied industries, including pharma, food processing, hospitality, facility management, retail, electronics, railways and others.
“Knowledge of complete usage of cleaning equipment and chemicals for better efficacy, time and cost management of cleaning operations is a must. Engaging in mechanised cleaning operations is not enough to have an edge over traditional cleaning methods, proper knowledge on its usage is the key,” said CK Mishra, DGM Operations, Sodexo-Maclellan.
The seminar was an amalgamation of delegates from different industries and sectors. The cleaning professionals representing Infiniti Retail Ltd, MRF Ltd, The Leela Goa, Merck India Ltd, Western Railway, Titan Time Products Ltd, Sodexo-Maclellan, Kare Labs, Syngenta India Ltd, Breach Candy Hospital, Schiffer & Menezes, Eco-Clean Systems Ltd and Delhi Public School were some of delegates who attended the seminar. Delegates also came from as far as Secunderabad and other parts of the country.
A noticeable difference at the Goa seminar as opposed to the previous seminars conducted by Clean India Journal was the professional crowd that was well versed with mechanized cleaning. Unlike the need to create awareness, the delegates deliberated on more in-depth and higher level of knowledge in terms of usage, cost effectiveness, results and applications. A highly interactive session, the speakers rose to the occasion in sharing their cleaning expertise.
Sensing the need of hygiene and maintenance in the growing sector and its benefits in improving employee productivity, RS Kamat, Director-General of GCCI was very enthusiastic in hosting the seminar and extolled the gains he aims to reap for the industries operating in the State through the seminar.
Acknowledging the financial aspect of cleaning, he said, “Cleaning, above all, is a business. The cleaning industry, though in the nascent stage, has undergone its own growing pains and now has come forth as a formidable player that can boast of sizeable contributions to the economy. Hygiene and sanitation has no boundaries as it is essential part of every sector in an economy.”
Chief Guest Arvind Bhagania, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, Panjim, inaugurating the seminar, spoke about the importance of cleanliness, “The art and science of cleaning is in knowing how to use the equipment and chemicals effectively and efficiently so as to gain the maximum benefit from mechanization.”
The seminar even saw new avenues for the expansion of cleaning industry – educational and academic institutions. The sessions were designed in such a way to appeal to the diverse end users so that everyone could take back valuable information with them.
The opening session was jointly conducted by speakers from Karcher Cleaning Systems Pvt Ltd. The industrial aspect of mechanized cleaning was ably handled by Sunil Kapoor, National Sales Manager. The usage of cleaning equipment in commercial facilities was spear headed by Tony Chazhoor, National Sales Manager.
The session focusing on washroom hygiene was conducted by Vijay Korgaonkar, National Head-Key Accounts & Training, Best Washroom Practices. The seminar session drew to a close with Sudhir Mani, Business Manager, Forbes Facility Service Pvt. Ltd speaking on the benefits of outsourcing cleaning operations from a financial aspect.
The sessions were peppered with stimulating anecdotes on the various cleaning challenges faced by the delegates and their experiences with the cleaning products available in the market. It was a perfect place for consumers to gain an end-user perspective on the cleaning products with the manufacturing and FM companies stepping up to provide personalized and satisfactory services. The highlight of the day was the live demonstrations of various cleaning equipment and products much to the delight of the attendees.
With a lively and enthusiastic audience, engaging speakers and a chance to interact with delegates from different sectors involved in the cleaning industry, the seminar provided a perfect setting to kick start the countdown for Clean India Pulire-2013.
