Cleaning skiing places

Every winter, thousands of tourists, skiers, adventure tourists throng at Gulmarg and Tanmarg and litter the place. Recently, 150 tourists and skiers joined hands to clean the mountain slopes of garbage, plastic bottles and other solid waste. About 13km road and vacant places were pock-marked by dirt, garbage and plastic waste.

The local Right Hand Ski Teachers Association, which initiated the clean drive, sent 10 skiers from Gulmarg to Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal to study how the authorities and private players there maintain the environment.
