Cleanliness drive

The KR market, one of the largest and oldest markets in Bengaluru will be shut down on the last Tuesday of every month for a cleanliness drive, undertaken by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. A task force comprising, WMRT members, zonal commissioner, chief engineer, revenue and health officials will monitor the market for cleanliness, segregation of waste and controlling the use of plastic. A biogas plant having a capacity of 10 tonnes will be built to tackle the 70 tonnes of organic waste generated daily by the market.
