Delhi introduces tech to track waste management

Real-time monitoring will introduce transparency

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has partnered with ID Tech Solutions, a top supplier of cutting-edge technological solutions, to offer comprehensive traceability, transparency and visibility for the national capital’s solid waste management. According to the agreement, ID Tech will implement two solutions at various locations throughout the city.

The initial wave of installation is for three sites in Okhla, Balaswa and Ghazipur for monitoring the remediation of dumps by bio-mining of legacy trash from landfills.

By running legacy trash through a trammel screening device, bio-mining separates different parts of it such as Inert, RDF, C&D and other home and commercial waste. With real-time monitoring of the biomining procedure provided by ID Tech’s integrated solution, everyday waste separation and removal from disposal sites will be transparent and traceable.

The second wave of the solution will be installed at 16 sites across the city, including C&D plants, Waste to Energy plants, and SLFs. ID Tech Solutions will install an RFID Weighment System for various weigh bridges installed at these sites. The RFID Weighment System will provide real-time monitoring and weighing of everyday waste brought to these dumping sites, according to a press statement.

As part of the agreement, a customised, smart, unmanned, secure, automated weighing system made up of RFID Readers, Boom Barriers, a Weighbridge Centering System and a licenced software solution will be combined with the system.

According to the agreement, the three systems—vehicle identification by RFID sensor, vehicle location via IR or laser beam, and image capture via CCTV surveillance system—must be connected with the weighment at the time of weight taking. The weight must be supported by synchronised operation of three pairs of sensors on the vehicle positioning system. Each weighment’s photo and recording will be saved in files and printed on the weighment slips. Any operator can utilise the software easily because of its straightforward user interface.

The solution includes functions like user authentication, multilevel roles and privileges, report generation and export with predefined and user-defined filters, notifications and alerts, multiple-level MIS and Dashboard, video surveillance, compliance with underweight and overweight regulations, vehicle authentications, and many more, as per the agreement.
