Delhi Turns to Corporates to Revive Yamuna

Decades of unchecked sewage and garbage dumping have left the Yamuna one of the most polluted rivers in the world, with drains carrying untreated waste straight into its flow.

In a new push, the Delhi government has invited corporates to join hands in restoring the river under their CSR commitments. At the “Revival of Yamuna and Delhi – A CSR Dialogue,” officials urged industry leaders to fund and support sewage treatment plants, drain maintenance and technology-driven solutions for river cleaning.

The Delhi Jal Board presented a roadmap of projects that could benefit from CSR investment, while civic leaders stressed that river revival requires resources far beyond government budgets. By tapping into corporate partnerships, Delhi hopes to scale up waste treatment and citizen awareness, making Yamuna’s clean-up a shared responsibility.
