DLAI team visits China

The Dry-Cleaners’ and Launderers’ Association of India (DLAI), within the first year of its formation, while strengthening its member-base, set out on an international tour to Shanghai to visit the Texcare Asia 2019 expo. Following the invitation from the China Laundry Association, a delegation of 20 members from India visited the Summit.

Gathering varied experiences President Suresh Bhatia said, “We were delighted to be part of the World Laundry Industry Summit Forum hosted by the China Laundry Association. It was a moment of pride to hoist the Indian flag among 18 other countries and also be felicitated by the CLA. The visit has helped strengthen the ties between the laundry associations. The CLA has accepted our invitation to be part of the Indian annual convention to be hosted by DLAI in India soon.”

He also said that it was equally an honour to be part of the Texcare inauguration ceremony. Addressing the gathering, Bhatia presented the industry scenario of both the B2C and B2B laundry and dry-cleaning markets in India. During the tour, the Indian delegation was taken around to some of the well-known laundry stores and factories in Shanghai.

“It was a good experience as we got to visit the Fornet Disney factory in Shanghai. Fornet is one of the largest service providers with about 1100 stores. We also visited the Y-Closet, one of the biggest fashion rental companies. It was very interesting to see how they dry-cleaned the clothes that were rented out. There were outlets in various malls, which we got to see as well. Besides these, we also visited the local B2B linen company, Blue Sky and others.

“It was a very well organised and coordinated trip which will remain in all our memories,” Bhatia added.

In a concluding note, Bhatia informed Clean India Journal that his team looks forward to increasing DLAI membership and the links are open at www. dlai.org.
