Drones to sanitise parts of Bengaluru

Exercise will be executed over ten days

In what is being touted as a first-of-its kind initiative in the country, Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa recently launched a drone-based sanitation initiative for Bengaluru. The exercise, taken up by Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan and his special task force that was formed two weeks ago to tackle Covid-19 in his constituency, in partnership with drone startup Garuda Aerospace, will ensure sanitisation of the Lok Sabha segment over the next 10 days with the help of drones.

The drone – The White Knight – is capable of carrying a payload of 35-40 kg , is equipped with a temperature-controlled module and has an endurance capacity of two hours.

The task force led by Mohan will cover areas of Gandhinagar, Chamrajpet, Shivajinagar, Shantinagar, C.V. Raman Nagar, Sarvajna Nagar, Mahadevapura and Rajajinagar.

This is not the first time Garuda Aerospace is conducting drone sanitization. Last year, Garuda aerospace carried out drone sanitization operations in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency of Varanasi.
