East Coast Railway develops sanitisation tunnel

The Diesel Loco Shed of the Indian Railways at Visakhapatnam has developed and launched a sanitisation tunnel, which has been placed at the premises. It was fabricated from in-house resources.

The equipment has a sensor at the entry point, marked with a pedestal. Two valves – one filled with chemicals, the other with compressed air – get activated when the sensor is intercepted, and spray a mixture of chemical mist for 5 seconds and stop automatically. This mechanism was developed in just two days time.
