In a bid to tackle the growing garbage mounds at dumping yards in Kodangaiyur and Perungudi, the Chennai Corporation has planned to generate electricity from garbage. The resolution passed at the council stated that non-recyclable waste would be burnt to generate power. The civic body has decided to rope in international companies dealing with the ‘electricity from waste’ technology.
