Electrolux to invest €4.6m in R&D

Electrolux Professional will be making a €4.6m investment in its R&D and manufacturing facility in Lljungby, Sweden with the aim of accelerating the development of new products for the global commercial laundry market.

Construction of the facility covering an area of 4,600sqmt at Ljungby commencing in 2017, with the project set to be completed in full by 2018, will have a laboratory, a research and development facility, as well as increased factory floor space. This is in addition to a previous outlay of €6.5m (63million SEK) on new products developed for production in Ljungby.

Ljungby hosts Electrolux’s manufacture of washing machines and dryers for professional customers, with the plant producing around 28,000 units per year. The site serves as the global R&D hub for Electrolux Professional Laundry and holds a history of innovation in R&D, such as the water-based cleaning system lagoon® Advanced Care and the efficient dosing system, a clever solution to reduce detergent consumption.
