The importance of utilizing waste materials in road construction
has gained renewed attention in recent years, owing to the rising
environmental challenges and the demand for a circular economy. By
repurposing industrial by-products, agricultural residues, and other
waste materials, road construction can play a crucial role in solving
global waste management issues. Dr Manoranjan Parida, Director and
Dr Siksha Swaroopa Kar, Principal Scientist, CSIR-CRRI explore the
various types of waste material utilized in road construction and the
challenges that accompany their implementation.
