Engineering at its Best

[box type=”shadow” ]Avant-Garde is amongst the few engineering organizations which provide total engineering solutions for enforcing entire project under one roof. In a brief email interview, Directors of Avant-Garde answer a few questions from Clean India Journal.
Avant-Garde was part of the WtE conference during the Waste Technology Expo in January in Mumbai.[/box]

The company

Avant-Garde Engineers and Consultants (P) Limited is one of the leading consultancy and detailed engineering service providers with more than 28 years of experience in the power sector accredited by ISO and by Consultancy Development Centre (CDC). The associate company ‘Avant- Garde Systems and Controls (P) Limited’ is accredited by American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) with ‘S’ stamp certification. We are authorized to design power boilers with responsibility for compiling code certification and for stamping the boiler at field sites controlled by us with fabrication and assembly subcontracted to holders of appropriate certificates of authorization.

We also have our presence in Sharjah in the name of ‘Avant-Garde Engineers & Consultants FZC’, through which, we provide services for Africa.

The sectors being serviced

We provide services to captive power plants, cogeneration plants, sugar & distillery plant, Waste to Energy projects (WtE), biomass-based power plants, independent power plants, solar power plants and Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) projects and also have vast experience in providing consultancy services for revamping and capacity upgradation of various types of boilers.

Avant-Garde consists of a group of professionals with proven capability in feasibility studies, plant, equipment and system design, pressure vessel & heat exchanger design, steam generator design & engineering, piping design & engineering, electrical & instrumentation system design, project management, solar power generation, procurement services and field erection / commissioning services. The technical team has worked for variety of Industries and in association with renowned consultants.

Avant-Garde has developed quality consciousness in design and engineering and has worked to the requirements of national and international standards.

Our engineering services specific to WtE project are feasibility reports, bankable detailed project reports, plant layout, project design and equipment layout, detailed engineering services for civil, structures, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, procurement assistance, project management services, third party inspection services and site supervision services for erection and commissioning.

Market penetration

We have commissioned more than 350 projects to a cumulative capacity more than 6500 MW. As for Biomass / MSW based power plants, we have commissioned 42 projects to a cumulative capacity of about 311 MW; in which, 30 MW (from 1800 TPD waste) is contributed by WtE projects (2 projects). In India, very few WtE projects are in operation adopting mass incineration technology. One of such references is operating in Delhi by Delhi MSW Solutions Limited (Ramky Group) of 1200 TPD (24 MW) capacity and we were the consultant for this project. We have come up with concept to commissioning engineering services for this project and have prepared detailed project reports for about a dozen of WtE projects cumulative of about 10,000 TPD of MSW and four WtE projects which are under various stages of implementation. We also deliver Pre-Bid Engineering Services for WtE projects.

Domain strength

The domain strength has been in providing concept to commissioning engineering services to:

  • Power Plant (IPP, CPP, Biomass, WtE, WHRSG etc)
  • Sugar Plant (raw sugar, plantation white sugar, refined sugar etc)
  • Cogeneration Plant (Bagasse, Coal, SLOP based)
  • Distillery / Ethanol Plant (Molasses, Grain, Sweet Sorghum based)
  • Solar Power Plant
  • Boiler Design (Stoker Boiler, AFBC, WHRSG etc)
