Essar pitching for National Clean-up Drive “Swachh Bharat”

Essarites at various locations do their part for the National Cleanup drive “Swachh Bharat”, launched by the Prime Minister, on October 2, 2014; set up sustainable processes with relevant accountability cleanliness parameters.

Joining Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swachh Bharat” mission, Essar of various companies from multiple locations like Hazira, Paradip, assembled on October 2, 2014 and cleaned the plant premises and its surrounding areas.

The Mission also known as the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan” is a national level campaign launched on October 2, 2014 and is India’s biggest ever cleanliness drive. The campaign aims to accomplish the vision of a clean India by October 2, 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

At Hazira, Essarites from companies based at the Steel (EStIL) Hazira Facility, including Power (EPoL), Bulk Terminals (EBTL), Projects (EPIL) and Heavy Engineering Services (EHES), and Aegis participated in the drive to clean up the township, school, parking areas, common places, roads, and every part of the massive Essar Hazira Complex. This campaign was not a one-time activity but aimed at instituting a sustainable drive replete with a Housekeeping Index, Safety Index and constant review process with relevant accountability parameters to ensure cleanliness and safety.

At its Steel Pune Facility, led by R Sridhar, CEO, ESPF, ‘Swachh Essar’ mission was launched, in which entire staff voluntarily participated to clean the areas in and around the Essar facility.
