EU regulations on chemicals

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published an inventory of over 20,000 chemicals declared hazardous by manufacturers and importers to improve worker safety and consumer protection. It aims to protect workers, consumers, and the environment by means of labeling which reflects the potential hazardous effects of dangerous substances.

An EU regulation on the classification, labeling and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures (CLP) is in force since January 2009. It requires companies to classify, label and package appropriately hazardous chemicals before placing them on the market.
