Fine for wasted food

Two Chinese and one Mongolian restaurant in Germany charge a fine for uneaten a la carte dishes. Yuoki, in Stuttgart, as part of their eat up or pay up policy charges a fine of one euro if customers fail to finish the dishes ordered off their all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. Similarly Okinii in Dusseldorf has been charging the same amount for some time now without any complaints from customers. Himalaya, the Chinese-Mongolian restaurant in North Rhine-Westphalia charges one euro if there is more than 3.5 ounces of leftover in the plate. The trend, that adds to the accountability of customers and cuts down wastage is likely to influence other restaurants too.
