Garbage Processing

The Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to increase the number of garbage processing units across the city. The city as of now processes only 70% of the total 1,300 to 1,400 tonne of garbage generated every day. The mechanism in place is unable to handle the garbage that is growing at the rate of 5% per year. The plan is to set up small processing units that will help PMC achieve 100% rate for processing and virtually put an end to open dumping.
