Haritha Mitram App for Smart Garbage Tracking

The Haritha Mitram – Smart Garbage Management System app is transforming non-organic waste monitoring in Kerala, offering stakeholders at all levels — from state authorities to local self-government ward officials — a unified platform to oversee waste management operations digitally.

Developed by Keltron under the guidance of the Haritha Keralam Mission, Suchitwa Mission, and KILA, the app tracks every element of field-level waste management, particularly the activities driven by Local Self-Government Institutions (LSGIs), including sanitation progress, public grievance resolution, and financial reporting. The system provides real-time data on waste collection practices across various sources like homes, shops, hospitals, public places, and institutions, enabling authorities to monitor waste generation, service charges, and collection schedules with ease.

Comprehensive GIS and QR Code Tracking

Equipped with GIS tracking, Haritha Mitram allows real-time mapping of collection points and GPS tracking of waste collection vehicles. The system also integrates QR code technology, enabling easy scanning of homes and establishments to track waste contributions and payment compliance. The initial phase of the system involves placing QR codes at each collection point, streamlining all future actions based on this scanned data.

Key Features for Stakeholders and Service Providers

The app offers dedicated features for the Haritha Karma Sena and other service providers, detailing specific routes, schedules, and customer complaints. It records waste type and volume at the source, tracking services provided, and fees collected. This data is aggregated into a web-based dashboard accessible by officials at local, district, and state levels to evaluate and optimize waste management performance daily.

A Collaborative Effort for Cleaner Communities

Implemented with support from the general public, elected representatives, government officials, and various community groups, Haritha Mitram empowers users to request timely services and report delays directly. The app also offers information on specific waste collection days, helping residents stay informed and participate in sustainable waste practices.

Through its database and tracking capabilities, Haritha Mitram serves as a critical tool for local self-governments and the state, offering invaluable data to inform planning and development for future environmental initiatives.
