Hotels sans STP

It has been found that the hotels in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, are operating without any sewage treatment plant (STP) to manage toilet waste. The solid waste generated in the region is also not being properly disposed off. As per the rules, all hotels having a capacity of more than 19 rooms are to have individual STP facility, in case a common STP facility for the hotels is not available. Since there is also no system in place to manage tonnes of solid waste produced in the region, plans are on to set up an incinerator at Tangmarg for management of solid waste.
