Hypochlorous acid produced by ECA Technology

Hypochlorous Acid Disinfectant Solution Produced by ECA Technology

Sanitization has become more popular word in recent times due to present pandemic. People have become more conscious about hygiene, cleanliness and keeping themselves and their environment germ-free. And at the same time, they are confused what type of disinfectant solution* to be used as many new brands available in market now.

Chlorine has been used as a disinfectant for over many years. There are many species of chlorine, however not all chlorine species are equally effective as disinfectants. The effectiveness of a disinfecting agent is determined by the function of its rate of diffusion through the cell wall and its reactivity with the cell wall, proteins and nucleic acid.

Hypochlorous acid (HCIO) is the most effective, safe and eco-friendly disinfectant in the chlorine family available in dilute solution. It can be produced by ECA process. It is assessed that HCIO is 80 – 120 times more efficacious than sodium hypochlorite. Because HCIO has no charge and has a low molecular weight it is better able than other chlorine-based disinfectants to penetrate cell walls. It also reacts more rapidly than other chlorine based disinfectants to oxidation reactions with organic matter – that is the critical components of cell walls.

Hypochlorous acid also called as electrolyzed water, has been tested against bacteria, mycobacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. Freshly generated HClO water is rapidly effective in achieving a 5-log10 reduction of pathogenic microorganisms i.e., Listeria, E. coli, Salmonella enterica, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, MRSA, Human corona virus and many kinds of pathogens.

HCIO has been proven by an Independent GLP laboratory to inactivate SARS CoV-2, the virus causing Covid-19, in 60 seconds on precleaned surface.

Hypochlorous acid is a weak acid and the concentration of HCIO within the chlorine spectrum is dependent on the pH of the solution and the temperature. HCIO is at its most concentrated at between pH 5 – pH 7.
