IIT Mumbai Students in association with JUHU Clean India Journal initiate BEACH CLEANING

Inaugurating the Beach Cleaning Campaign, Editor-in-Chief of Clean India Journal, Mangala Chandran, congratulated the students. “Clean India Journal is very happy to be associated with this initiative. There are various stages of cleaning to reach your vision of Clean India. First you have to be aware of the dirt and filth around you. Even though we see a lot of filth we tend to turn our faces and go away. Number two is to do the actual manual cleaning – picking up a bottle or can on the road and putting it in the dustbin; Manual cleaning has to be systematically done and this is what you are going to do today, using the right tools to pick waste, using mask, gloves and garbage bags to store them.

“The third step is to go for scientific and mechanized cleaning, right from the scrubber dryer, vacuum cleaner, to high pressure jet equipment which will help you clean the premises and achieve the goal of Clean India very fast. I want all of you to be the Ambassadors of Cleaning of the area where you are in the city or the state and in the long run, the entire nation.

“Our Prime Minister’s in his ‘Man ki Baat’ message for September has appreciated the efforts of a 18-year-old boy in Srinagar. Bilal Dar started his cleaning initiative at the age of 12, going around in his small boat picking up the shoes, bottle from the lakes and surrounding areas. He has already collected 12,000kg of waste and Srinagar Municipal Corporation has made him the ‘Cleaning Ambassador of the City’. I call upon all of you to become a Bilal Dar and make our City and Nation clean.”

The student of the E-Cell of IIT Powai, Mumbai, in association with Clean India Journal initiated the first of the campaigns to propagate cleaning awareness on a mass scale. Following the beach cleaning, IIT students and CIJ team will engage in such cleaning activities which will be a value addition and sustainable programme to help people work towards a clean and green surrounding. Speaking to Clean India Journal, E-Cell representative Shoham Teberiwal said, “This campaign also works towards spreading awareness regarding the use of sustainable startups and businesses revolving around hygiene and cleaning technology in India and meet the international standards of cleanliness & hygiene set by the latest trends in global cleaning technology. At a time, when the entire country – men, women and the youth – has risen to address the issue of unclean surroundings we need to address the elephant in the room to promote Smart Cleaning Solutions for a New India from across the world with extensive support from the Clean India Pulire and Waste Technology India Expos scheduled in Mumbai from January 18 to 20, 2018.”

Marking the 12th anniversary of Clean India Journal at the Beach Cleaning Campaign, Editor of Clean India Journal Mohana M, administered The Pledge to work towards creating a CLEAN, GREEN & SMART NEW INDIA. More than 300 students and over 50 corporates took the pledge at Juhu Beach, Mumbai.

Clean India Journal invites all those citizens who have contributed to cleaning in any small way to write to editor@virtualinfo.in and their contribution will be acknowledged during the Clean India Pulire expo from January 18 to 20, 2018, at the Bombay Exhibition Center.
