Karnataka imposes plastic ban

The Karnataka Government has imposed a complete ban on all plastic and thermacol products across the State, effective from March 11, 2016. As per the notification, all plastic products, including plastic banners, flex, plates, spoons, carry bags, flags, cups, cling films and sheets will be banned for all the common source users. The ban also comprises goods prepared from plastic and thermacol that incorporate plastic micro beeds.

In addition, the ban extends to the suppliers, manufacturers and wholesalers, retailers, hawkers, shopkeepers and trader. Manufacturers and users of plastic carry bags for export purposes and packaged milk products have been exempted.
