Kitchen waste digester

With the help from an Indian Institute of Chemical Technology scientist, residents of a colony in Gun Rock in Hyderabad are turning their kitchen waste into biogas using a ‘modular digester’. The digester was prepared for disposal of kitchen waste. Around 40 to 50kg of kitchen refuse (vegetable/green leafy/fruit peels and eggshells) can be dropped into the feed tank fitted with a tight lid and garbage undergoes multistage digestion within the cascade digester. The project is funded by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
