Kotak Mahindra’s “Upload a tree” drive

The Kotak Mahindra Bank launched ‘811 – Upload a Tree’, an initiative wherein the Bank would plant a sapling in the name of the first 10,000 customers who download an 811 bank account from June 5. Partnering with the NGO SankalpTaru Foundation, they will plant saplings of Neem, Jacaranda, Gulmohar, Sita-Ashok and Silver Oak saplings that give shade and are also useful for medicinal purposes in housing complexes across eight cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. Each sapling will be named after the first 10,000 customers. It will be geo-tagged to be viewed by customers on a dashboard provided by SankalpTaru Foundation. In case if the sapling dies, it will be replaced with the same aged plant for up to two years. The NGO will maintain it initially after which the housing societies will take over.
