Managing the ‘waste line’

“Installation and requirement of waste treatment vary from industry to industry. These are tailor-made systems to suit the nature of effluent. For example, in the Colgate factory, the effluent will be creamier, while that of Indian Oil will have more of oil to be separated from the wastewater. Similarly, in dyeing units, the effluent will have more of colour and organic matter which will have to be treated.

“Right from designing to engineering to manufacturing & installing of water and wastewater treatment plants; CETPs and STPs, including recycle and reuse of wastewater; air and noise monitoring, are undertaken by us. We also conduct Environmental Impact Assessment studies, environment audits and treatability studies.”

“Based on the treatability report, we recommend the suitable waste treatment. This varies from product to product like the treatment is different in petrochemicals, in Colgate, in dyeing unit and so on. To determine the kind of treatment require, we conduct lab studies at our plant in Navi Mumbai.

Recently, we have concluded a project in Bangalore, one at Gujarat and one is in the process in M&M, Mumbai.

More and more housing complexes today are opting for sewage treatment plants. “We have completed plants for Piramal Group and Ceat, Nashik. One more plant at Kalpataru, Ghatkopar, is in progress. The main reasons for large housing complexes opting for STPs are statutory laws and shortage of water. Recycled water can be used for flushing and gardens.”
