Mechanised cleaning for Manmad depot

Central Railway at Manmad is planning to outsource dry sweeping, cleaning and watering of train at Manmad Depot for a period of three years. The contractor will clean 70080 coaches within this stipulated period.

Parivesh Sahu from DRM Office, Central Railway, Bhusawal told Clean India Journal, “As per the rules all coaches must be watered thoroughly immediately after arrival of train as these trains will not halt on watering lines for long time. Refilling/topping up of coaches should be ensured immediately after placement of train on platform before departure. The water available in coaches can be used for cleaning of toilets in yard/stabling lines.”

According to an official source, “The job will also entail locking & unlocking of doors, switching off electric lights, fans and closing & opening of window shutters and wet cleaning of toilets.”
