VIS Exhibitions and Conferences, VIS Group, sets another record in the Gulf with the successful conclusion of the second edition of Middle East Cleaning Technology Week organised along with Media Fusion, Dubai. Middle East Cleaning Technology Week comprising three expos – Clean Middle East Pulire, Gulf Laundrex and Gulf Car Wash – held from November 13 to 15 at the Dubai World Trade Center surpassed expectations, with exhibitors elated over the 4,500 footfall and quality of visitors.

This is the best-show ever for us. We have received tremendous responses and excellent leads,” said Chandan Singh, CEO-UAE, Dhofar Global.

Visitors walking in from all parts of the Gulf and other countries were enthused by the range of innovative products right from multi-purpose cleaning tools to energy efficient laundry systems. Exhibitors confessed a new experience with such “high quality visitors” and were pleased to see visitors from Bahrain, Oman, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, India and other countries.

“Indeed, it is a new experience here at the Dubai Show. Even though there are not too many visitors, the quality is very high,” said Uwe Stahl, Managing Director of Stahl GmbH.

“We have seen fantastic customers from different countries at the Gulf Car Care Expo and the participation of exhibitors from all over the world. This year the show is better than the last year and I am sure in the coming few years, this show itself will become bigger,” said Mohammed Al Samhouri, Director-Business Development and Operations, Auto Millennium Group.

The Gulf Car Wash show was a happening place with very interestingly made stalls. Alex Jin, Managing Director, Seven CarWash Korea Inc, participating for the first time in the Gulf Car Wash, said, “I found many things as a surprise at this show and I would like to participate every time. We got visitors from India, Emirates, Saudi, Kuwait and many other countries. We have the Korean car steam wash machine which is highly effective.”

One of the leaders in the car care industry, AVW – Tommy Car Wash Systems’ President Ryan Essenburg, said, “The show for us has been very busy this year. We’ve got more interest from customers around Dubai along with outside countries, so we had overall much more traffic this year. The response was very positive; we met people from India and Europe, and made many new contacts. We will certainly be back next year; it’s been a great experience.”

A much bigger show, CMEP was a great success. As Nizar Karmali, Director, Daitona General Trading LLC, put it, “The exhibition is very good and we have been very busy and we will be participating next time too. The visitors are of very good quality, exactly the kind that we wanted. With the prospects that we have generated, this is going to be the best show so far.”

Venkatesh Manjeri, Divisional Manager, Floorcare Division, Intercare, said that the quality visitor turnout was very impressive. “People are interested in seeing innovation. The products displayed at our booth has been a big hit and many of them are asking for demos.”

Samit Sanyal, Marketing-Director, Sealed Air Diversey, said, “The show this year was much more successful and bigger as compared to the previous years. We’re quite satisfied and pleased with the way we have seen the quality of customers coming. Live demos were interesting.”

John Shields, VP Business Unit, EMEA, Hydro Systems Europe Ltd, said, “We are meeting all our target segments and that is what we wanted to do. It has been worth the investment.”

[box type=”shadow” ]IT IS ALL ABOUT ENERGY AND WATER SAVINGS

All visitors are interested in the whole range that we offer, be it washing machine or fabric iron or dryer or folding machine. The most interesting thing is everybody want to save environment and energy. The cost is secondary.

All our machines have heat recovery system — in the tumble dryers or for washing in hot water in the washing machines. We have special insulation systems besides specially designed drive to save energy and water. With the Ironer, we have very high insulated machine and a drive system which ensures less electricity consumption.

In general, the demand for washing is almost the same in Dubai and India. In Dubai, however there is more emphasis on environment in comparison to India. But India is growing very fast and I am sure India too will give equal importance to environment in the future.

Our focus has been energy saving and all our innovations reflect the same. Though they are a bit more expensive, there is tremendous savings comparatively. If I compare the dyer, for example, you can save up to 70% of the heating energy through our system. Likewise the ironer, it is less because you can save energy only on the drive system. However, compared to the old version of our machine, you save 15 to 20% and if I compare the old machine with what you will find in the market, you will save up to 50% charged energy in the drive system.

With all these new technology, we have been growing steadily. The company is moving in the right direction and we will move step by step in each country. For India, we will be looking at stabilizing the market in the next five years.

Tourism has always been a flourishing industry which directly increases demand for cleaning and laundry solution at the hospitality front. Huub Hoffmann, Sales Manager, Vega Systems B.V, exhibitor at the Gulf Laundrex show, said, “Compared to last year, I noticed more suppliers this time. Middle East is a growing market for laundry; with more and more airlines coming here, it’s easy for people from Europe and Asia to travel here.”

Innovation and Technology

Speaking about the innovative solutions, Vladimir Kharitonov, MD Green Chute Environmental Solutions, Dubai, who participated for the first time in CMEP, said,“Now we are using ozone as sanitizers which are 120% effective and can eliminate even hard contaminants like fungi, yeast and mold. This product is environment friendly and leaves no byproduct as it uses natural air (O2) to make ozone (O3) to deplete the bacteria.” Hence, the disinfectants installed in buildings, which use chutes to carry garbage, will be odour free and hygienic.

Intercare introduced Haga’s steel bin which is solar powered with enough reserve to run even on not so sunny days. The steel bin, fitted with two normal wheelie bins and a facility to compress the garbage with the press of a button enables more storage. “More suited in busy areas, it also gives an attractive look at the side of the road.” Manufactured in Finland, it is equipped with indicators which send out messages online when the waste bins fill the 2000 litres mark. There is also a foot pedal, making it touch-free and hygienic.

Beeha brought in interesting tyre and rubber waste recycled pellets and crush which can be laid out in the play area and enhance design factor in construction respectively.

[box type=”shadow” ]FANTABULOUS SHOW

The Show has been phenomenal this year. Compared to the last four episodes of the Clean Middle East Pulire Expo, this year has been the biggest leap with both quality and quantity of visitors. This time we had 11 pre-scheduled appointments and they are tying up with us. This is going to be fantabulous for us. Moving ahead, we plan to be in the rest of the GCC countries by 2020. With the new tie-ups, jointly we move to the Gulf countries and we look forward for a good growth.

We are prominent in the Away From Home segment, which is mainly institutional – HORECA, aviation industries, mosques, schools and colleges. In a way, we are the leaders. Even though there is no audited figures as such, but I should say we have 80% market share.

We are based out of UAE, Oman and Qatar and are expanding into Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi. We are also supplying South Africa, Maldives, Mauritius and Seychelles. I am looking forward being global.

R+M Suttner’s widest range of accessories for professional high pressure cleaning systems and car wash included the spray gun, blasting nozzles rotating nozzles and others. The bypass injector was particularly interesting as it enables three major activities of car wash – foam, rinse and wax when attached to rotating booms. Foam application, especially, has great savings potential regarding the required quantity of chemicals and mechanical and thermal energy.

Mohit Vij with Anjana Vij at Kibble Stall

Kibble Enterprises, an Indian company, which is participating for the second time, launched a unique product which was much appreciated by visitors. Kibble introduced two variants in the squeegee – one a super soft rubber for all floors and one with white rubber which is a medium soft squeegee. “We are receiving very good response from the Gulf countries and they are excited to see a Made in India product,” said Anjana Vij, Director, Kibble Enterprises.

Other Indian companies which have established their distributor network in the Middle East after participating in CMEP include Roots Multiclean Ltd and KC Green Revolution.

Auto Millennium, which had an igloo stationed in the booth, drew visitor attention. This igloo represents the iFreeze product, which is a sub-brand of LLumar, the window tint company. The product rejects 95% of the heat. Auto Millennium Group was the first in the world to introduce the product and it was done in Dubai as the climate in Middle East is such that cars need the protection. People inside the car will be cool and you will feel very comfortable drive in the car.

Awards

City Cleaning Awards

Dirk Niesen, Head of Sales along with Nicole Rodwald, Export Area Manager at R+M Suttner booth

Middle East Cleaning Technology Week had launched in 2015 a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region – the City Cleaning Awards to recognize the dedicated services provided by the outdoor cleaning staff in the Emirates of Dubai and Sharjah.

Excellence Awards

It is not every day that the people behind the scenes who ensure that hotels, facilities and linen are spick-and-span are lauded on such a large scale as the Excellence Awards! Since the past four years, the Excellence Awards has been a continuous effort towards bringing together these ‘celebrities’ of the cleaning industry.

The categories included Soft FM Attendant, Soft FM Team Leader, Laundry Attendants, Laundry Team Leader, Housekeeping Room Supervisor, Housekeeping Public Area Team Leader, Housekeeping Room Attendants and Housekeeping Public Area Attendants.

Trends

Green is the key as many exhibitors confessed. There is a stark shift in preference towards environment friendly products and a visible concern over water and energy consumption while choosing products. The Middle East is moving towards more specific training mechanisms, increased understanding of quality versus cost and gearing up for a clean, green and modern future.

At the same time, there is increased emphasis on new technology and innovative products keeping in mind the basics of cleaning operations. While the demand may be similar whether it is laundry or cleaning, there is a distinct difference in the operations where UAE and the rest of the world is concerned.

In this regard, smart solutions with mobile apps and cloud based options are going popular. Smart laundries are catching up. Specific solutions like use of nano technology and high pressures in cleaning and car wash made its mark at the shows too.

An interesting observation made by an exhibitor was the demand for bottled liquid detergents by many contractors, besides tools and equipment with multiple applications.

At the home front, manufacturers and exporters in and around Dubai are looking at India as an opportunity besides countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia and few countries in the Far East.
