“MNCs boosting FM market”

FM in India has been growing rapidly over the last five to seven years and will witness a significant growth in the next five years. The factors leading to the growth of the market explained in the recent report by Netscribes on the India Facilities Management Services Market in India 2012 include boom in real estate, rise in infrastructural development, growth in retail sector, growth in hospitality sector and improving healthcare scenario. The key challenges identified are shortage of manpower and large unorganized segment.

Reacting to the report, Vinay Deshmukh, CEO, Forbes Facility Services Pvt Ltd, said that with many international players having entered the Indian market over the period, it would certainly precipitate the market with activities on M&A. “This shows another fact that globally, the market is viewed as poised for conversion from ‘mostly unorganized small operators’ to few organized big size players.

“The boom of commercial and industrial sector and global players setting up most advanced centers in India (e.g. Cisco & GE R&D centers at Bangalore) are also contributing to the boost to FM business in India. The advent of international players as well as customers is shifting the demand from the omnipresent ‘manpower suppliers’ to better organized FM providers,” he added.
