MPPGCL to outsource cleaning of boilers

Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Co. Ltd. (MPPGCL), a wholly owned company of MP Government, is planning to outsource cleaning of ash, unburnt oil and clinker from boiler ground area and its disposal. As a part of the housekeeping job, the contractor shall ensure cleaning of the working place daily for a year.

An official from MPPGCL told Clean India Journal, “The job entails manual ashing because the pipes provided for ashing gets choked due to clinker formation. The intermittent ashing system in this case entails cleaning twice in every shift. Clinkers are removed immediately through a man machine combination without usage of chemicals.”

In Satpura Thermal Power Station, Sarni, Bottom Ashing is of two types: Continuous (in Power House -2 & 3) and 2- Intermittent (in Power House -1). The former is done continuously while the latter is done intermittently.

As per the contract, tippers are required for collecting ash to be disposed off at specified areas outside the powerhouse. All scrap materials have to be shifted from the site to MPPGCL scrap yard / outside the power house by the contractor at his own cost, as per laid down guidelines. However, the MPPGCL may provide mobile crane, truck/dumper, residential facilities etc on chargeable basis and requisite facilities like water, Electric Overhead Travel (EOT) Cranes, light, power, workshop facility and compressed air free of charge.
