MSW project in Kollam

The Kerala government has awarded a municipal solid waste (MSW) management project to Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (JUSCO), a subsidiary of Tata Steel. The project to be implemented in Kollam, funded by the Asian Development Bank, is expected to be completed in 15 months.

It involves establishing an integrated MSW processing and disposal facility with a capacity of 110 tonnes per day. The existing dumps site will be closed and an engineered sanitary landfill facility commissioned. It would also commission an electro-mechanical compost plant and establishing a leachate treatment plant for leachate generated from compost and landfill facility.
