Mumbai’s first waste-to-energy unit

Mumbai’s first waste-to-energy unit will begin operations in April 2016 at a landfill site in Kanjumarg area. The Guascor machine, which converts methane into electric power, is being procured from Spain at a cost of Rs4.5 crore. On the successful commissioning of the new project, the city municipal corporation may extend this plant to other waste dumping sites.
