Mumbai’s first waste-to-energy unit

Mumbai’s first waste-to-energy unit will begin operations in April 2016 at a landfill site in Kanjumarg area. The Guascor machine, which converts methane into electric power, is being procured from Spain at a cost of Rs4.5 crore. On the successful commissioning of the new project, the city municipal corporation may extend this plant to other waste dumping sites.

Kanjurmarg landfill site contract has been awarded to Antony Lara Enviro Solutions for a time period of 25 years.
