Over 50 hospitals in Maharashtra have applied to the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health Providers (NABH) for obtaining its accreditation by introducing the NABH Safe-ITSM Infection Control.
Maharashtra has become India’s third State to launch this programme after Kerala and Punjab. This ensures control of infection within the hospital premises by strictly maintaining high-quality cleanliness/hygienic practices.
In the last 18 months, 50 hospitals in Kerala and Punjab have obtained the accreditation. Some of the multi-specialty hospitals and nursing homes to apply for this infection control programme included Bombay Hospital and Research centre, Breach Candy Hospital, Holy Family Hospital and Sanjeevani Surgical and general Hospital. Currently, only 14 hospitals in Mumbai having 50 beds are NABH accredited, claiming to be maintaining all sanitation requirements, quality-of-care standards and having infection free atmosphere.
