Neem for organic pesticides

The biotechnology department in Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) plans to use Neem (Azadirachta Indica) for the manufacturing of organic pesticides. A bio-processing unit for the promotion and production of such pesticides is likely to be set up at Patiala. PSCST is one of the 10 agencies across India that is coordinating for the promotion and production of neem-based bio-pesticides. These pesticides are eco-friendly and affect the life cycle of pests instead of killing them. It has anti-feedant and pest repellent properties, is non-toxic and nourishes and conditions the soil.
