Power from garbage

The Pune Municipal Corporation will be funding a garbage-based power generation project in Kasba Peth. The PMC has given Rs50 lakh for the 40KW power-generation project. The project will be managed by Pune based Greenleaf Energy company. The power project would use wet garbage to produce biogas, which will be used for power generation. Besides generating electricity, the power plant will also provide 600kg of fertiliser which can be made available to farmers.
